HOW TO START WITH WEIGHT LOSS – THE SAFE WAY!

So you have found your motivation for losing weight and you are ready to take action, Great! I just want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on this decision! I know this isn’t easy but I can assure you that you are not alone. From here you will have to apply your mind and do some planning / set some goals, Exciting!

FAIL TO PLAN – PLAN TO FAIL

Spending most of my time in the architectural profession I have to constantly plan projects from the initial concept phase (first meeting with client) through to the final product & handing over of the keys. Although the process is basically the same for most projects, you will find that each project is ultimately totally unique. In order to create a proper project time plan it will require for you to apply your mind and think through the process thoroughly.

When drafting the plan it is required of me to basically populate the process, with the end goal in mind. During this planning phase you will receive clarity ITO what supporting services you will need, long leed items that will have to be ordered in order to meet deadlines, but most importantly see ahead into the future and be aware of the pitfalls in order to steer your ship around them to your final destination!

THE WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY IS UNIQUE FOR EVERYONE

I will not insult your intelligence by trying to make you believe that the weight loss process will be the same for everyone. There will be a common theme running throughout that will be similar for all who set their sights on losing weight, but with unique challenges here and there depending on your current health.

For instance, I cannot propose that everyone should start running in order to become more active while you are extremely overweight and sitting with a variety of health problems. Very clearly not a very accommodating approach and will result in having people who are obese to lose hope, never reaching their goals.

KNOW YOUR HEALTH STATUS – SAFETY FIRST!

You only have this one body, so be careful how you jump into this new journey. I don’t understand how people spend thousands annually on things other than their health, while knowing you cannot enjoy anything without this body of yours in a healthy condition. You should rather be spending money on yourself making sure that you remain healthy in order to enjoy a good quality of life!

YOUR FIRST STEP – DON’T SKIP THIS, PLEASE!

Book an appointment with your doctor where you will be informing him that you are setting out on this weight loss expedition where you may become more active and that you want him to run some tests in order to confirm that it will be safe for you to do so. It may be that you are already under treatment, but this will once and for all confirm your current status and will enable you to customize your approach.

Remember what I said about each journey being unique! This will enable you to create a health plan custom to your needs & you will definitely know how to navigate the waters in order to reach your goals safely. Also, if you don’t take this structured approach then you won’t have the stats you require to measure your progress / health against. I would strongly advise to also consider purchasing a heart rate monitor for heart rate tracking.

Conclusion

I know you can do it! it’s not that difficult once you found your motivation. From there make sure that you don’t try to wing it as you will fail! Ensure that you plan thoroughly and then take a safe approach towards your goal in order to be able to effectively monitor your progress.
